I thoroughly agree with the sentiment of this stamp. I don't have the time/motivation to comment on every deviation I like, so I just fave them.

Having thumbnails in journals is a subscriber-only feature. That's why.

A subscription doesn't seem terribly expensive. I'm considering getting one.

*LOL* Have you been getting people sending you mean messages about not commenting? I like to visit the person's page and will ask what they like about the work I faved, I don't mind if they don't reply back because I understand they may be busy.

No, not mean messages, just people putting things like "I prefer comments over faves" in their descriptions. I'll comment when I think it's necessary, but if I really like something, I just fave it.
